Be Adaptable

Gone are the days of picking a career path that you can grow in over the course of your life. Gone are the days of making 5 year goals or even, I would argue, 1 year goals. Today’s world is simply ever-advancing at a rapid pace and is highly unpredictable. Take the internet for example. If you obtained a degree prior to the internet, you would have picked a career that was necessary for the times, however since the internet was created, 1.2 million jobs have been created. 1.2 million jobs you would have had no way of knowing were going to exist. So that degree you are working for? It will become obsolete quickly. You could say that taking all of the time and money spent working for such a degree and career path is an ignorant course of action. It could be and probably will be useless for your future job, a job that doesn’t even exist yet.

So what’s the solution?

The future of success lies in the ability to be adaptable. To be able to turn on a dime and be open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. Being adaptable means being ready to jump on every opportunity and doing your absolute best to create value for that opportunity. Be innovative, look for new and better ways to solve problems, but most importantly never stop learning new things.
